RUMSEY ENGINEERS JOINS THE INTEGRAL GROUP

SAN FRANCISCO, November 9, 2009 - Kevin Hydes, president and CEO of The Integral Group, is excited to announce that Rumsey Engineers, a distinguished sustainable engineering firm based in Oakland, Calif., has joined forces with The Integral Group. This announcement marks a significant step in the evolution of The Integral Group, a global coalition of deep green engineers.

"This is a watershed moment for the entire building design community. The Integral Group is a different kind of engineering firm," said Hydes, the former chairman of both the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) and the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC), as well as a founder of the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC). We are bringing together the most innovative thinkers in the industry, and Rumsey Engineers is one of the pre-eminent firms in sustainable engineering. Together we can imagine, deliver, and accelerate deep green engineering solutions that will transform the built environment."

The Integral Group is building a community of engineering firms with a shared vision to be the leading deep green engineering practice in the world. With a unique business model that allows like-minded firms from around the globe to connect under a single deep green umbrella, The Integral Group's mission is to create smart, cost-effective solutions with local performance benefit, while accelerating from Green and Net Zero Buildings towards Regenerative Buildings that mitigate global environmental impacts and slow down ecological degradation.

Rumsey Engineers, one of only three firms worldwide with five or more LEED Platinum certified projects, is widely recognized for its leadership in energy efficient and deep green design. Since its inception in 1996, the firm has steadily gained a reputation for visionary yet practical innovation in building system design, and has pioneered many highly energy efficient design approaches in high technology installations.

Peter Rumsey will continue to lead his Oakland-based team, and as a member of The Integral Group, he will deliver deep green designs to wide range of clients, collaborating with a growing community of practices with offices in San Francisco; Washington, D.C.; Richmond, Virginia; and Raleigh, North Carolina; as well as with affiliates around the world.

"We have always led by example by delivering the industry's most cost-effective and energy efficient solutions," said Peter Rumsey, founder and managing principal of Rumsey Engineers. "By becoming part of The Integral Group, we can make a more significant impact on our community and on communities around the world, and we can do it more rapidly."

Hydes adds, "I've long admired the work of Rumsey Engineers, and it's a real privilege to have them join our team. With today's announcement, we have made great strides toward achieving our common goal - to build the world's premier deep green engineering firm."
